A dog in Oregon ate three of his diabetic owner's toes while the man slept, most likely following its canine instinct to remove diseased flesh, animal experts say.
James Little, 61, of Roseburg, called 911 after the incident last Tuesday and later told the Associated Press he was "doing fine."
Little was recovering in the hospital and is expected to be released Friday.
One of the symptoms of diabetes is numbness in the hands or feet, which explains why Little did not feel the dog chewing his toes.
If it is a dog's natural instinct to remove diseased flesh, would it not stand to reason that any dog locked in the same room as Richie Rexic, would feast on her? -Big Drew
