There are way too many problems infront of Fed Chairman.
1) Asking people not to walk out of homes and pay up their loans
2) Making the wall street firms like Lehmen, bear sterns run their businesses as usual.
3) Contain the inflation so that long term interest rates are lowered.
4) Come out clean if the US policy is shifting towards Weak dollar or going back to string dollar policy. Either way US and world over have to face gyrations in near term.
There is blood on everybody's hands for the mess we are in.
1) Japan for too long provided the world with cheap loans (~1%).
This money not only found its way to corprate India but also into US
Housing markets.
2) Americans spent money much much more they earn or worthy off.
3) Globalization created another affect (Read Alan greenspan's 'economic conundrum' theory). Google it, you will find plenty of articles.
4) China for too long manipulated their currency and provided the world cheap goods.
5) Oil exporting countries didn't utilize the profits in developing their countries and economies. Instead they started buying aasets all over the world causing unsustainable price levels in asets.
6) Indian software industry far too long booked profits without developing/diversifying into enterprise strength products and remained fixated on their business models. Software sector is staring clueless and is unprepared for the fallout of outsourcing industry. Pink Slip culture is on the rise.
How do we come out of this financial mess in US?

In theory, the idea that a gathering of even 200 people in company's parking lot (Cisco, goolge, microsoft) - IS GREAT.
Immigration Voice has always appreciated efforts of members who get employers involved.
However, I am inclined to believe that company HR will resist such activity on their own premises, especially during business hours or even lunch time. That's because its loss in terms of productivity and distractions for all employees, even those who are US citizens.
BUT...
If someone pulls this off and if there is a gathering to protest green card delays at any of these companies -- Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, Google, Intel, Amazon...anyone...THEN IV leadership will fly to such an even from wherever they have to fly and attend it at a moments notice (provided your employer allows us in your buildings/premises of course).
Not only that, if you can pull it off, then IV will honor you will a "IMMIGRATION VOICE MEDAL OF HONOR" for doing that. Its a square medal with imprint of GC on one side and EAD card on another side. :):)

While I am happy for you and your success along with your spouse, I personally consider it as being at the right time in right places making decisions that were in your reach. I do agree that you did lot of planning. Most of the people here run on one income and spouses on H4/F1. So they dont have the edge you had/have. I might sound harsh in saying this but the matter of fact is that the 2 incomes lead to savings which lead to buying a home(s). 1 income, you wouldnt have done all these by yourself. I know several people with 2 incomes and most of them have done this :) Those who havent were the kind of folks who are happy having their 100K in bank rather raking up 200K in equity. I am sure there are a lot of things you can do with a US Citizenship.

I feel that this forum is totally going in a direction where people are seeking some sort of solace in discussing stuff that doesnt directly relate here. Now that all of us had discussed about what we can do with a GC can we streamline our effort to what we can do to get a GC.

As per the state dept folks, pretty much all categories are using all their allocated numbers. So where is the spill over going to come from?
country quota will not impact I and C once the dates are current for ROW due to the spillover. If the number of applications pending is, say 100K and 95 K out of that are I and C. And assume 10K applications from ROW are add to the queue, what I am saying is all 110K will be cleared by end of the fiscal year.

Anti-immigrants are working overytime making it look like as if their opinion is the opinion of the entire nation. Each person is making 20-30 phone calls a week. But it is ok if none of us is doing anything. Lets all "time pass" and have this very important discussion about Rs/$ eachange rate variation... right?
Communities/groups/societies who do not understand the need to organize and standup for themselves always perish. Durbin-Grassley bill is just the beginning of the time for this high skilled immigrant community to disappear. Reason - When any group of people increases in number there is always another group which becomes its natural opponent/adversary. This community of over a million people also have very powerful opponent/adversary. That opponent is gaining strength and working overtime to purge all of us. unless I am egregiously mistaken, I 140 is totally employers and not employee's. How can you invoke FOIA on that? I mean freedom of info doesnt mean a breach of privacy or disclose "compny/personal" documentation. Nixstor..i have only same view but i dont understand how USCIS is proceeding...As per gc_in_30_years it seems possible..but never trust Customer Support at USCIS..Many Dont know the rules..

Even there also there is a catch in case of Naturalized of the govt wants to go after you you cant dig you history and find a violation and based on that void the CG you got and the citizenship.

The place where I work, people eat burgers in the meetings and we have a very small kitchen in our floor and there is no Cafetaria as such. If I had to put up with the burger smell, I expect my co-worker to put up with my Indian food smell too...

In G-639 form, Fill out the following information
I) Type of request
-> Freedom of information Act (FOIA)
2) Requester Information
--> Your Communication address
3) Consent to release information
--> Please choose "A portion of my records" box
4) Information needed to search for record
--> Please specify only "ETA 9089" for PERM CASEs or ETA 750 PART A & B. ( I have asked for ETA 9089,)
--> You can also ask for I-140 approval copy(Since i have approval letter i didn't ask.)
