Rashida Jones Was In Running For Moulin Rouge

Rashida Jones Was In Running For Moulin RougeRaRashida Jones has revealed she was in the running to play the lead in Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! - until Nicole Kidman expressed interest in the musical role.

The TV star, who is the daughter of Quincy Jones, admits she auditioned for the role of Satine before producers decided to go for a bigger name.

And she wowed movie executives with a routine she worked out with her super-producer dad.

Jones tells Eonline.com, "You had to sing a song and I decided I wanted to sing and play a song. I wanted to play this arrangement of Somewhere from West Side Story that my dad had done for Aretha Franklin.

"So he taught me the whole arrangement on piano and helped me transpose it to the right key for my voice. It's one of my best memories."

And the tune could one day make it on to her own album.

She adds, "I have a lot of reverence-slash-fear about music because obviously I have a living legend as my father. Music breaks my heart constantly. I almost can't even talk about it I love it so much.

"I'm not sure that I'm ready to share that with the world... (but) at some point in my life, I want to lock myself away and make an album just for myself."

Being stylish means never compromising says Nicole Kidman

Being stylish means never compromising says Nicole Kidman Nicole Kidman thinks being stylish means never "compromising" on who you are.

The 42-year-old actress won two prizes at the InStyle Women of Style Awards in Sydney on Tuesday night. She was unable to attend the ceremony as she is filming new movie Just Go With It in Hawaii, and sent her mother Janelle and sister Antonia to collect the award on her behalf.

Nicole also recorded a video acceptance speech, in which she thanked the fashion magazine for giving her the prizes, and shared her thoughts on the definition of style.

"Style means having a voice, it means not compromising who you are because of what people say; it means standing proud, and knowing that that sometimes you are going to go in and out of fashion, but still, staying true to yourself," Nicole said.

Australian InStyle editor Kerrie McCallum said Nicole was one of the most fashionable and stylish women in Australia. She praised the actress' long career, charity work and personal life, declaring her to be truly "unique" and "special".
"With a career spanning over 25 years, and featuring in more than 30 films, Nicole Kidman is simply an iconic Australian female,'' McCallum said in a statement.

"An international star, Australia's only winner of a Best Actress Oscar, a passionate charity campaigner, a proud wife and a working mother of three - Nicole Kidman juggles all roles with charm, timeless style and a unique sense of intrigue."

Nicole has 22-month-old daughter Sunday Rose with her husband Keith Urban, and two adopted children with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Pathetic Nicole Kidman Upsets Australians Again?!

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman you are pathetic!

Just last week, Nicole Kidman angered aboriginal groups by playing the sacred instrument the didgeridoo, which women are forbidden to play. And now locals in Sydney are upset with her as well. Nicole has been keeping her luxury yacht outside of the home she used to own there. Nicole doesn’t even live there anymore, but her huge boat has just been sitting on the street. Residents are annoyed that Nicole is getting special treatment because she’s a celebrity.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, locals have started a campaign to have the vessel removed. But a rep for Nicole denies she’s been getting preferential treatment.

I think these locals should come to LA and see how celebrities are treated like kings and queens every day, and they’d realize this isn’t such a big deal!

Nicole Kidman reveals that she is pregnant

Nicole Kidman, the Oscar-winning star of The Hours and Moulin Rouge, is expecting a baby, it has been disclosed.

The actress, 40, and Keith Urban, her husband of 18 months, reportedly broke the news to their families over the Christmas period.

The baby, whose expected arrival date has not been announced, would be Kidman's first by birth, though the actress, who is winning rave reviews for her role as the evil Mrs Coulter in The Golden Compass, adopted two children during her first marriage to fellow Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

Kidman, who has refused to discuss her break up from Cruise in any depth, recently revealed she had suffered an ectopic pregnancy and a miscarriage during their 10-year marriage.

Life with Urban, 40, a New Zealand-born country and western singer, has also not been without its difficulties.

The singer checked himself into rehab for alcohol abuse less than four months after the wedding. Kidman admits that it has put a strain on the relationship but says the problems are now under control.

The Australian actress, who lives in Sydney, has been gradually winding down her commitments to spend more time with Urban and her adopted children Isabella, 14, and Conor, 12.

Nicole Kidman and Keith show

THEY are both used to performing but there was only one show on the minds of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban yesterday.

The couple took Sydney's Royal Easter Show organisers by surprise when they made a low-key arrival with their nephew, Hamish.

Even other showgoers failed to notice them.

But once word had got out that the famous couple were at Sydney Olympic Park, they were flanked by the show's security guards and police.

They took in the woodchop and wandered down sideshow alley where Hamish, who is Antonia Kidman's son, won a stuffed Crazy Frog.

Excited fans Emma Finlayson and Sian Davies, both 16, from the Blue Mountains, were disappointed they couldn't get a photograph or autograph from their favourite star.

"We couldn't believe we saw her in person. It's pretty exciting," Ms Finlayson said.

At lunch the Kidman clan were drawn to the NAB Arena for the action of the Xtreme Korruption, Globe of Death and Lady Cannonball.

They sat among the packed crowd. Kidman gritted her teeth and cheered when freestyle motocross riders flung themselves 60m into the air.

Royal Agricultural Society events and marketing manager John Aitken said it was great to see the couple at the Show.

He said that obviously, like every other visitor to the Show, Kidman and Urban wanted to get cow dung on their boots.
