City makes Eto's bid

Manchester City have made a bid of 25 millions pound for Barcelona's Striker Samuel Eto. As finally Eto had to leave Barcelona after 12 months contract. The fact that Eto'o could leave Nou Camp for nothing in 12 months' time means that Barcelona are sure to accept such an offer.

City have courted Eto'o, who currently earns £128,000 a week, for some time and believe he could prove to the marquee signing that will help attract other big-name players. A four-year deal has been discussed.

After completing their latest coup, City will step up their efforts to secure possibly two central defenders – Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure are their first choices having been rebuffed over Matthew Upson – and maybe a winger such as Arjen Robben or another creative midfielder. The purchases will see City comfortably break the £100 million mark for fees this summer.
