That will make it the ultimate presentation tool with a huge halo effect on corporate, education and domestic markets:
1. Make presentation on Mac or PC with Keynote or Powerpoint.
2. Save the presentation to the iPhone.
3. Use the iPhone as a wireless computerless presentation remote.

It was not available to purchase for people living anywhere in New York City, or any of the suburban zip codes in Westchester County or northern New Jersey that I tried.There seems to be some confusion, however, over the cause of the move, with a customer service representative initially stating that "New York is not ready for the iPhone" and that it doesn't "have enough towers to handle the phone." Push Notifications are when your phone automatically checks for updates, alerts etc. without you having to open the app right? I guess it's just misleading to me because when I hear "push" notifications, I think of something that happens when I push the app or open it up.

What you are explaining is pull, not push.
In push, the phone keeps one connection alive to Apple. When Apple receives data for your phone, it will push it to your phone through this connection. The phone doesn't "check" anything.

That's actually pretty cool. And it's a good example of killing a bird with two stones. Not only does it take away the heat but it also uses the energy gained to reduce the heat remaining.

Im tryin to print some episodes to tape and runnin into some issues. I have been doing this with no problem for a couple years now but no more...My setup to give you an idea is Firewire out of my mac into my tapedeck and a/v out of my tapedeck into a monitor just to make sure everything is ok. When i play my video it usually has a straight stream to my monitor through the tapedeck but what its doing now is just playing the audio and showing the first frame of the video and nothing else till i stop the video, then it changes the first frame to the last frame i stopped the video on. When I try to print to tape it will record the audio and just the frame that the playhead was on when I hit record. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem before, its kinda strange. I have restarted FCP, refresed the A/V devices checked my settings and not sure whats goin on. There is a connection because it brings the picture and audio in, it just wont stream the video to my tape deck. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Not hands-down. Trains win if the goods are (1) very high volume, and (2) are going only from station to station. You can't back a train car up to a Best Buy to unload a bunch of big-screen TV's. You still need trucks. With the growth of suburbs and the push westward, things aren't as tightly clustered as they once were; that causes trains to lose a lot of their luster as far as delivery efficiency.
Still, I get what you're saying.

Not sure what all the fuss is about the backlit keyboard... I don't think I ever found that feature to be useful on my MBP.. I guess if you type "pecking" style it's pretty useful..
On the 11incher I would love to see:
1. SD card slot
2. 3G or 4G
Otherwise some incremental improvements on memory, cpu, battery life, would all be great!

Maybe some of you who own one of the two HD systems can help me out.
I own a Wii. I really like it, but you've got companies like EA who think it's only 5-year-olds and grannies playing it. Therefore, we get things like NCAA Football 09. That was by far the worst sports game I have ever played. It was like EA took NCAA 06 for the PS2, stripped out everything good and put in a mascot game. EA didn't make NCAA Football 10, and I see no indication of NCAA Football 11 for Wii.
Thus with the newer designs of the 360 and PS3, I'm considering getting one. I mainly would like HD games at times, especially the college football one. I looked into the 360 Arcade version and balked immediately because it sounds like something for people who never want to save a game. Oh yeah, it has NO WIFI. No WiFi is a dealbreaker on the Pro or whatever 360 as well.
I have a neighbor who manages a GameStop, so I plan on asking him about this. But I'm just curious as to what you guys think. I have zero interest in buying any movies or music online through this. I really don't know much about games specific to each platform. A friend told me there was a Magic: The Gathering game for XBox. That would be pretty neat, especially if I could trade all those damn cards I have for it. I don't plan on doing any Rock Band or Guitar Hero for those because I dropped $150 on the set for Wii. I saw Final Fantasy XIII was on the 360, but I bought friggin' Final Fantasy X for $20 and never played it on my PS2.
I also doubt I'll have much interest in these systems' motion controls because of cost. I'm really not wanting to go all in on these things. I just want an alternative to Wii for when the developers get sloppy and don't release a game I like for Wii. I own a crapload of BDs, so that is in my mind for the PS3. I've never had any issues with the latest updates, so I don't really care with 10.4.8...but I wish Safari could be less memory-hungry, or use less virtual memory...that's all.Me too. And I wish Safari had a "Sure you want to quit?" dialog box for those times when we accidentally do a Command + Q in the dark when we thought we were doing a switch application Command + Tab.
Glad to hear it's in Leopard. But having to wait for an entirely new system version to get a little helpful dialog box in one little application seems like an expensive unnecessary delay.

I just bought a 16gb here in San Antonio a few hours ago. My first iPad and I absolutely love it. However I just spotted a dead pixel. Guess I'll make a trip to the apple store tomorrow. They should be able to replace it, right?

Sheesh, these computer geeks never heard of acting? My friend knows an actor in a herpes drug commercial who doesn't have herpes but says he does in the ad (how awkward would that be!).
As nearly all of you know, Justin Long isn't responsible for what he says in the ad. C'mon, think about it, is he really a Mac computer? OK, I will admit that John Hodgman, the fellow playing the PC, said that he was a computer on The Daily Show....
Anyway, Long will do fine with his movie career, no doubt.

Well.. I ordered the 320m Air yesterday, after reading up on the latest rumors. Maybe I will regret this but since I plan to do some basic 3D (Maya) modelling and opengl graphics development on the go, I figured the sandy bridge upgrade will actually be more of a downgrade.
We'll see.

I thought the difference between little/big endian was that the byte order was flipped, not the bit order. So 01 in BE/LE would always be 1, 10 - 2, etc. Or am I wrong?
You are correct!!! 10 will always be 2. 01 will always be 1. Endianness swaps the bytes, not the bits. Binary addition would be hell if the bits were swapped... Plus then writing bit-operators and using bit-masks in C would just be a pain in the arse when it came time to compile that game for 5 different platforms.

I think that no other company has their products come under more scrutiny than Apple. It is amazing. When folks say how the media just falls over Apple and praises them constantly -- it cracks me up. The media is just itching for bad news on Apple, and they are looking in every possible place to find it.
What shocks me is the level of forgiveness that competing tablets against the iPad are getting. Apple is so dominating the tablet-computing sector right now, that the media is just hoping for a contender. Motorola and RIM have both released "Beta Hardware (http://technologizer.com/2011/04/21/the-era-of-beta-hardware/)" to the public and many reviewers are being soft on RIM with even more being soft on Motorola. If Apple released such a product they would get blasted in the media with nobody offering forgiveness.
Case and point... Mossberg on the iPad 2:
Keep in mind that Apple advertises 10 hours and Mossberg got better than that with the brightness setting 25% higher than Apple's default setting. Yet he had to reach to find something to complain about (e.g.: his iPad 1 test unit just happened to have extraordinary battery life -- keep in mind that most reviewers of iPad 2 got better battery life than iPad 1).
Gruber criticizes Mossberg even more in a post called "Bending Over Backwards" (http://daringfireball.net/2011/03/bending_over_backwards). Some of Gruber's points are arguable, but I think he is dead-on in many regards, especially his final quote:

Same resolution for the 13" > but these changes would be nice:
8GB ram option
larger SSD drive
Thunderbolt
longer battery life > closer to the iPad (iPad has really spoiled me as far as battery life).
and perhaps just a little lighter.
If the RAM/Battery life bumps are in I'll reconsider, especially since my wrists are okay with the magic mouse and an Apple laptop > (why I didn't use my Magic Mouse with the Airs/Pros I tested over the last month > duh).

i'll be getting more involved with this as soon as my electricity supplier has finally changed, should be a couple of weeks, my current love overcharging me for leaving things running 24/7.
i'll also try and sort out the software for my ps3, i barely use that so it'd prolly out do my computer looool

I love Nintendo and thought they made great portable gaming systems but I think this is a serious misstep. I reserve my final judgment until I get my hands on a system myself.
