Sorry to hear about that dude!
Did they book any charges against you?
Where did this happen? What did they say when they left?
Do you have officer's names/contact number?
One thing you could do is that you can write to Senators and Governer about this and also the Media Reporters.
Talk to a lawyer as well if you are mentally worried about this.

Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP - San Francisco - just Google them....you should be able to find contact information. They've treated me wonderfully!!
Were you kidding or serious? You just quoted the very same name that guy is to avoid.
Fragomen is the only part missing in the name you mentioned. I hope the other three didn't ditch Fragomen to start DBL..

Guys,
We need to ignore postings from Rockford. He is just trying to spread unnecessary rumors to gain attention. What a shame
we really have to be morons to take anynonymous comments at face-value.
or did you post the comments yourself and like the attention?

so when is a visa no. allocated?
say, i filed in july when visa bulletin was current and now its retrogressed to 2004. my PD is 2006. so can it happen that if all runs smooth and application is complted, i can get my GC, even tough visa bulletin may not have yet cut past my PD? so in a nut shell, visa no. is given when 485 is recipted or when its approved?

Dear gurus,
I have one fundamental question.
why EAD renewal can take up to 3 months? (90 days). It just does not make sense. I can understand if it is fresh application OR it has been expired for quite sometime before applying for renewal. If it is fresh app, there might be some security checks, application verificaiton checks etc. But EAD Renewal is very simple. You were approved once, your application does not boast any address changes. All you are requesting is renewal based on pending I-485. No common sense!
This is very very unacceptable and shows the lazyness of USCIS in adjucating timely. But they are VERY TIMELY in increasing fees....
I know I am very furious but dont we think we should raise some momentum in allowing special processing for EAD renewal or allowing local offices to issue Renewals for EAD which has been eliminated now????
Sincerely...
Almost everyone knows USCIS rule that EAD can be applied 120 days in advance before previous EAD expires and normal processing time for EAD is 90 days.
With few exceptions, people are applying in time. They have other issue such as one person got in 6 days. In 20-30 days it is not uncommon.
You are one of the few people who did not apply EAD in time and trying to draw attention.

I would recommend LLC, as then you have limited liability. You can actually register it using legalzoom for a price much cheaper than CPA.
In no way am I endorsing legalzoom, it is just one of the many websites that do this. You might wanna look for a better and cheaper one.

Hello Varsha and NJ chapter members,
Thank you for taking the lead with the Meet the lawmaker initiative. It is very important for our EB community to be active and vibrant on the issues that are important to us. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of meeting the lawmaker in our home states. As you already know, in campaign like ours, it is the most vibrant communities who ultimately succeed.
The real question is when would there be sufficient number of community members who would feel the need and the motivation to be vibrantly active. It is the fence sitters that we have to convince so that more number of green card applicants, suffering due to retrogression, would feel the urge to actively participate in fixing their own issues. And your act of sharing your experiences with the community about what you were able to accomplish, is a big step in the right direction to motivate others to emulate what you have been able to do. In effect, today, you helped raise the level of consciousness of the community and prompted a sizeable number of members to think and believe that they could meet the lawmakers and make the difference in this debate. I am confident that most members, who listened to your narration tonight, were convinced that they could do it too. That is the message that we have to send out so that the energies emanating from our frustration due to delays with the system, which are often times visible on IV forums, could be channelized into positive direction. We see that there are many reasons why people do not actively participate in Immigration Voice efforts. A large part of these community members could be described in two broad categories:-
(1.) Green card applicants who are totally unaware of the current situation and thus they are indifferent towards the reasoning and the depth of the problem causing delays in the system. They think that their individual applications will get approved in "few months" so there is nothing they need to do.
(2.) The victims of the retrogression come from various parts of the world.
The members who belong to this group are already disheartened with the delay of their application and have waited patiently for their turn in the line for several years. This long period of wait has made this group of people to lose faith and so they do not believe in themselves. They don't actually think that they can make any difference in this debate to facilitate anything that would change the system. Because they do not believe in themselves, these people do not also believe that others like them can do anything to change the system either. So often times they refuse to participate, not knowing that they are refusing to participate in an effort that will ultimately facilitate the change in the system.
The positive message, like the one from you on the conference call today will help more and more members to believe that they can actively participate in changing the system to change their and their families' lives. And it is this belief in our own self that will ultimately wake-up this community. I am confident that after listening to your narration on today's call, more and more members will sincerely attempt to meet their lawmakers and will educate other members about their efforts. I believe that this community has a massive potential to make the change. The only question is when would the sizable number of IV members feel motivated enough to get up to actively participate in this process to facilitate the coming change? After today's call, I believe that the answer to this question is, very soon.
Again, Thank you for actively participating in the effort and more importantly, encouraging others to participate actively. Please continue to help and motivate other members in the organization.
Regards,
Pappu on behalf of IV team

Thanks for that Iptel.
Will include it in our lawmaker materials list right away and incorporate it into our presentation as soon as I can.

Iptel,
Superb find. Great job. Among other things, this report talks accurately about the current Green Card delays and solutions and how LEGAL HIGH-SKILLED IMMIGRANTS add to the economy and innovativeness in the U.S.
Selected sections can definitely be used to enlighten the lawmakers.
Keep 'em coming!!!

I try to access the page now and it shows the old one ...hehe  ..
Hopefully they are in the process of correcting/retracting ...

My LC is still in process after auditing (EB2). My employer wants to 'drastically' cut back my salary due the national depression, which is particularly affecting the field my company is operating in (sub-primes). If he does that, and I accept it, is LC in jeopardy? We filed back in September 2007 with a certain salary and now it will be lower. Do we have to communicate the change to the DOL? And if yes, what will happen? Do we have to re-file? Thank you to everybody for all the info you can give me! Really!:(
No matter what, your employer must maintain the salary that was given to the government when your H-1 was filed. You can't go below that salary. With regards to the LC salary, the company is only required to meet that salary after your I-485 has been approved; so if you aren't meeting the LC salary now, that's fine. Make sure that your salary on your H-1 is still met, though.

Hi Kris,
Can you please give the source from where you heard about this info? There are a lot of rumors being spread without any reason behind them. So this is important to find the source of the info before we get panic or make decision.
Thanks.
Amulchandra
I can assure you this is not a rumor and has happened recently in my colleague's team. I agree that this might cause lot of doubts in people's minds but I just wanted to share the info so that people don't get in to trouble. It is quite possible that this is a one off incident. People should share such information if it come's to their attention. This guy was told to return from POE
Regarding the rights of the IO at POE. I am not sure if it is within the right of the IO to decide in this case but I have read somewhere that the IO has the power to decide whom to allow or not according to the interpretation of law. I am not sure what law was used to interpret the situation here by the IO
If this post has caused unnecessary concerns I urge you to ignore it. If people who are back from visiting other countries or trips back home can post their experiences at the POE or any contradicting information then this one could just be a one off case..
good luck

Its not abt H1-B abuse, its abt the way it was brought up. Instead of looking into his own house (USCIS and DOL) Sen.Durbin held Indian companies responsible and almost started bashing them. Little did he anticipate that they will come back in this way.
H1-B abuse is a different issue. Sen. Durbin should have looked into rulemaking part of the game than bashing players of the game.
When the US was instrumental in doing WTO negotiations during late 90's (BTW-your's truely grew up during that period witnessing this through newspaper articles - was an exact reversal of roles played by India and US then)they never realized that globalizing markets would lead to globalizing labor market also. Now, IT has become a virtual industry with a pretty much open labor market. Professionals making Rs.50000 ($1200) are competing with those making $5000 a month. US politicians made a classic judgement error in 90's. Now, protectionist measures are being brought in by the very same people who championed globalization for a decade.
The letter puts things in perspective for sen. Durbin. It seems to carry a veiled warning about backlash of these protectionist measures on the US companies doing business in India. Starting from McDonalds, subway, coke (now even Walmart) to Ford, GM, IBM, Pfizer, Merck, Novartis, Abott, J&J, JP Morgan, Bank of America and many more have huge business interests in India. The size of Indian market totals upto atleast 0.8 billion human individuals with need for housing, auto, computers, electronics, healthcare, finance, consumer products etc. Losing an inch of it can make an international co. nervous.
As far as Indian consumers go they now have options- British, German, Japanese, French and now even the Indian companies.
Durbin tried to scare a cat, unfortunately for him it turned out to be a big wild cat- aTiger.
