G4 is actually one of three channels I watch. Get back FOX and add NBC and I'll be interested. Until then, how's Hulu Plus doing? Why hasn't anyone mentioned it yet?

There is no point, but lots of people will tell you "you need all the room you can get." I stream all of my media content to my xbox. I only use the hard drive for downloadable games, game saves, and to "install" disc games to the drive. You can use a usb drive (16GB max) instead of a hard drive on the xbox.
There are 2 very good reasons for having a large hard drive, especially on the 360. You mentioned the game installs. That is the best reason ever. Not only do many games load things a little quicker, but the console becomes much quieter. The disc drive on the 360 is the source of much of its noise. By installing, you keep that drive from spinning while playing, and the system is MUCH quieter.
But also for downloadable stuff, which you mentioned. More and more games are releasing lots of DLC, and that can really add up. I have well over 12GB just in DLC for the games I own, and a little over 2GB in XBLA games. Now sure, as you said, you can use a USB drive. If you don't plan on downloading much stuff, that will work just fine. But, I really like having a ton of space. Even with many of my disc-based games installed, all my XBLA games, DLC and stuff, I still have over 30GB free to use for downloading demos and trailers and stuff, and I don't have to keep track of a bunch of different USB drives.

RAW handling in OSX is done by the operating system, so updates to RAW support imply updates to OSX as well.
I think this is sort of true in Aperture but not 100% true. Aperture has it's own RAW decoders (1.0 and 1.1 versions) which are separate from the system and run in Core Image. I believe that it relies on the system support for colour profile data only...

the iPad will be for normal people when you don't have the sync it.

But do you really need to sync it though?
The apple store will activate it apparently if asked,

Just from my observation (I have no hard data or anything), it seems that at least 25% of new mac buyers are switchers. And from conversations I've heard around my office, I think that number will continue to grow. Apple is really turning heads with this transition to Intel. People like to know what they're getting in a machine (even if they don't really understand the components themselves) and Intel is a household name for the windows world. Good stuff. ;)

Why cant people just (I know this sounds crazy) listen to CR when they make factually based reviews (i.e., iPhone 4 antenna design CAN lead to dropped calls). I hate this blind bias some folks have on here.
then how do you explain CR giving the nod to another smartphone that *also* demonstrates a deathgrip loss of signal? they all do. yet, there was no hoopla about the others. only iphone.

I have to agree with most here that Pages didn't live up to my expectations. However, I can't agree with you that Word has been perfected. Word is complete nightmare in certain situations. Its non-intuitive and not very user friendly in many cases (especially the windows version!). I do prefer it to Pages, but its by no means the best that can be done.
Keynote on the other hand is fantastic, and considerably easier to use and prettier than Powerpoint.

Anyway, back to Apple, Mellel is a very good word processor for OS X. Interestingly though, I find myself using Pages more and more often.

here are some good references to get a grasp of the differences. As others have stated, the lens is the same focal length, but on a smaller sensor body (APC), the image is essentially "cropped". Some websites..

He's very into simplicity and minimalism, just look at the way apple products are designed. I think its a conscious choice to wear a simple black turtleneck and jeans, even though he could easily afford any clothes he wanted.

Yea! And limit their new OS to about 20% of their users.
Not that I can back it up by any numbers, but I would assume that more than 20% of the Macs out there that can run Lion have a USB port ....
EDIT: well, I just saw that the original post was limiting to Thunderbold ... ok, we are not there yet with 100% thunderbolt

very well said ... maybe they can make everyone happy by offering the choice between:
- download (MAS or whatever other means)
- USB stick
- DVD
I just think now is the time to think about the future and offer options according to that (along with being the DVD an optional accessory on new Macs). DVDs are just no longer needed for the masses.
so everyone can pick his/her favorite based on their needs and their future plans (I for sure will skip the DVD)

well until i have friendly user interface, imovie to edit my movies, final cut pro to my more experinced work, idvd for my easy to do dvds, and dvd studio pro, itunes for my music, stability which i dont get in windows xp, a laptop that looks as good as it functions i may be all windows. the ONE thing i hate about windows is when it screws up i gotta format and start over, with my mac i can put in the cd, hold down the c key, and reinstall the system while all my stuff is un touched. me switching to completly to mac has a much shorter list than my list to switch completly to pc. if my mac gets the games i play i will no longer have a pc.

Just because a channel can't garner enough subscribers doesn't mean it's crap. Look at the stuff these days that get the ratings. This is what cable TV may be reduced to if forced to go ALC.
I'm not saying that ALC is bad; some days, I'm on your side. I flip flop on this all the time because there are such goodsides and downsides to this. Change can be good, but there are always unintended consequences to change. In the end, it's just TV, so there's nothing earth shattering. Just good, honest debate.

I have a condo in Italy and The Philippines. In Italy it's about $17 USD and I get all of the channels they offer, about 120, which does include ESPN, and does include Disney... In Manila, PH I get 95 channels for $9.50 USD per month, and I get 100 channels, even HBO.

LOL... it's just a way the channels negotiate higher renewal rates with the cable company... like when you buy a car and they try to up the price by throwing in something else which has no value.

My MBA Ultimate is perfect for me right now as my sole working machine. This is simply a super balanced laptop for those seeking mobility and reasonable performance. No need for me to fix what's not broken right now.
I won't be jumping in on a SB+HD3000 upgrade, so I will pass on the next update until Ivy comes out (as long as it's paired with a decent GPU and not with a lame HD3000-like).Why does everybody repeat the mantra 'Ivy Bridge'? Will it make the Intel's HD 3000 perform better in some kind of mysterious magical way? Or do you expect that by the time IB is released Intel will have developed a new, presumably better, IGP? Shall we expect the same comments "Intel IGP sucks I'm gonna skip IB and wait for whatever-bridge" again next year?
I am aware that, of all computers Apple produces, the MBA will suffer the most from advancements of technology because it is not upgradeable. So, if there are some radical improvements that IB will introduce that I might be interested in I will join the camp of people who will wait. The present 11" can't do the job I like it to, I need a faster processor but I like the form of 11" MBA.
